The set of the Goldberg Variations can be seen as being divided into two halves, clearly marked by this grand French overture, commencing with a particularly emphatic opening and closing chords. It consists of a slow prelude with dotted rhythms with a following fugue-like contrapuntal section.

Il set delle Variazioni Goldberg può essere visto come diviso in due metà, chiaramente marcate da questa grandiosa overture francese, che comincia con accordi aperti e chiusi particolarmente enfatici. La variazione consiste in un preludio lento, dal ritmo puntato, seguito da una sezione contrappuntistica simile ad una fuga.
